R10 – Back to business

Four months since the last release…I waited for a more stable situation before coding again. But the project is NOT dead. For this 10th release, a _LOT_ of features added. Click below for the full story.

Please welcome Fabrizio Mondo who will help me documenting the text-level system. As I added more and more labels, it was urgent to create a resource so that everybody should be able to create his own levels.

Près de trois mois sans nouvelle release… J’ai attendu d’avoir une situation un peu plus stable pour me consacrer de nouveau à IRW. Mais vous pourrez constater que le projet n’est pas mort, au contraire ! Pour cette 10eme release, beaucoup de changements. Développez le post pour voir tout les apports de cette nouvelle version.

Souhaitons aussi la bienvenue à Fabrizio Mondo qui me donnera un coup de main pour la documentation du projet. En effet, je me suis rendu compte que le système de niveau-texte commençant à devenir complexe, il devint urgent de le documenter.

Quattro mesi dall’ultima Versione! Ho preferito aspettare una situazione più stabile prima di creare nuovamente del codice.
Ma il progetto NON è morto. Per questa decima Versione, TANTE novità sono state aggiunte.

Un grazie a Fabrizio Mondo che mi aiuterà a creare la documentazione per i livelli del gioco. Nel creare nuovi livelli, sarà importante creare il modo per cui ogni utente possa creare i suoi livelli.

ENGINE :
MONSTER graphic runtime rewrite.
Drawing a frame should be twice faster !
Added a pause screen. There can be selected collected items, buttons and config
Added PetiCopter vehicle
Added shops
Added event : When Alex go through a given location some blocs can appear,
be deletet or can text screen can be displayed.
Corrected BigFish (At least, I made it !!)

GROSSE optimisation de la partie graphique.
La vitesse d’affichage devrait caremment douber !!!
Ajout d’un menu PAUSE qui donne acces au reglage des controles
ainsi qu’a la selection des items (l’item ramasse n’est plus equipe par defaut)
Ajout du vehicule PetitCopter
Ajout des magasins : Alex peut desormais faire du shopping !!
Ajouts de la gestion des events : Quand Alex passe dans des endroits definis,
des blocs speuvent apparaître, disparaitre ou un ecran texte peut d’aficher.
Correction du Big Fish (enfin ! c’etait pas sans mal ;p)

    I downloaded your Alex Kidd today and already had some fun with it, but there is a small problem: when I change the controls and want to save them, the game doesn’t let me; instead it crashes. What should I do about that?

    Thanks a lot for your interest in my game ! It feels really good to know that someone got fun with your work !

    About the crash who occurs when saving controls settings, a possible cause would be that the controls dat file is write-protected. Check the file attributes.

    For the others random crashs, I never was reported such problems. In my code remains a very annoying bug when reading internal level datas : Address computation are not always correct. As a result, Windows kicks IRW and terminate it immediately. But this should append VERY RARELY. Does your system reports any acces violation ?

    IRW has not been tested under Vista. If you can get any hint about these crashs, you’re welcome !
